This Orange County resident had a very outdated and small existing kitchen with a peninsula cabinet separating the kitchen and dining room. By extending the kitchen clear across to the dining room and adding an island, the new plan achieves a large kitchen and dining area with a better flow through the spaces. The sink, dishwasher, and trash pullout were all moved to one wall to make it its own cleanup station. The white cabinetry desired by the client was mixed with a stained cherry wood island and matching dining room buffet to bring in a more dynamic neutral color scheme and to offset too much white. Colorful accessories, art, and pendant lights were then added to balance out the neutral background.
