Located in the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego was a mid century home in great need of a kitchen remodel. The original kitchen space was closed off to the adjacent areas of the home and visible through a typical mid century small peak a boo window from the kitchen to the dining area. Opening up the floor plan created space for substantial cabinetry and the desired kitchen island as well as creating a more friendly flow to the main living spaces. Keeping with the style of the home, dark walnut cabinetry was used. In order to offset the warm tones of the cabinetry and existing wood flooring throughout the home, subtle gray tiles and quartzite counters were incorporated. Gold accents were then paired with stainless appliances for additional warmth and visual interest.
